Dirt Alley Design - FAQ
When will my map print ship?
Most of my maze maps are printed to order. Orders are screen-printed and shipped within 1-3 business days of being placed.
When your item is shipped, you will receive an email notification with a tracking number. Orders for one maze map are shipped in a flap seal bag with sturdy backing board and arrive in a stiff envelope mailer. If you order multiple prints, I will ship your prints packaged and boxed.
All orders ship for FREE to anywhere in the US via USPS. Just choose the FREE Shipping option at checkout. When choosing the FREE shipping option, please be aware that orders for one print ship via USPS First Class Mail and orders for multiple prints will ship via Priority Mail for FREE! I also offer additional shipping options from UPS and USPS if you need your order more quickly.
Do you ship internationally?
I offer international shipping at a flat rate of $20 USD. You will be responsible for any applicable taxes or customs. Prints can take upwards of 1-3 weeks or longer when shipped internationally to arrive.
What is your return policy?
All sales are final, and I cannot offer returns unless there is an error and you receive the incorrect art print. However, if your item is damaged during shipment, I am happy to send out a replacement. Please contact me with documentation of the damage so I can process your order for a replacement.
Why are there two different maze designs for each city?
Each city comes in 4 colorways and two different designs. My metallic gold maze maps, and red and teal maze maps, are designed to show clearly the maze design. It is easier to follow the maze path with these two colorways.
I also offer a slightly more abstracted version of each city maze as a black and white, or rainbow colorway option. It is a little harder to follow the maze design paths in the more abstracted version.
Which one you choose is entirely up to you and your own design preference!
Do you use the real streets of the city in your maze design?
Yes, I do! I download the street data from open data portals made available by each city. I then draw the maze design on top of the street data in Illustrator. I don't use all of the streets of the city (because, well, that would be insane!) but I try to keep as many of the major streets as possible resulting in a maze design that retains the original structure and design of the city's street grid.
Is there only one solution to the maze?
Yes, there is only one way to solve each maze. However, there are countless streets you can wander down as you try and find the correct solution!
Do you provide the solution with the maze?
The solution to the maze is not included with each map print. However, if you are really stumped, please contact me for the solution! :)
What is screen-printing?
Screen-printing is the process of printing a design by pushing ink through a mesh screen. The result is a hand touched print with a unique quality that can't be captured by digital printing methods. The handmade process involved in creating my prints mean there are slight variations with each print!
Can you create a [insert your city here] map print?
It can take upwards of 60 hours of work from start to finish to create a maze map for a particular city. Feel free to contact me with a request though, and if I receive many requests for a certain city, I will be more than happy to make that city maze map a priority!
Can you create a custom color for my print?
Unfortunately, I can't accommodate custom color requests due to the nature of screen printing requiring print runs of 10+ prints at a time or more to get the most out of the ink and equipment.
I received my map print, but the colors look different.
Due to differences in how browsers and monitors render images, and how color can appear depending on ambient light, you may receive an art print where the color looks slightly different from what appeared on your computer screen. I strive to accurately represent a print as much as possible before purchase, but do understand that the poster your receive may look slightly different from what appears on your computer screen.
The map poster I want is out of stock
Unfortunately, some of my maze maps are offered in limited edition colorways and once I have sold the print run, those maps are no longer available.
Where can I get a picture frame?
I offer all of my prints in standard sizes for easy framing. All of my prints come in either 12 by 12, 11 by 14, or 18 by 18 inch sizing. Ikea's Ribba Frame (19.75 by 19.75 inches) will accommodate my large San Francisco poster, but will need a custom mat. If you are based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Cheap Pete's offers pre-made poster frames.
Do you have a wholesale catalog or line sheet?
Yes! Please contact me to learn more about my wholesale pricing and to request a line sheet.
